Terms of service
The agreement between you and Gatherwell Stays when you book directly through this site.
What these terms cover
These terms apply to bookings made directly on this site with Gatherwell Stays. A booking made through Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo or another platform is governed by that platform's terms instead, not by these.
What you are booking
A short-term stay in a private home, let to one group at a time. You are booking accommodation, not a hotel service: there is no front desk, no daily housekeeping and no staff on site. The configuration you choose — the whole house, or a part of it — is what you get, and it is described on the page you booked it from.
Making a booking
A booking is confirmed when your payment succeeds and we send you a confirmation email with a reference number. Until that email arrives, nothing is reserved. We may decline a booking, and will refund it in full if we do.
Payment
The full amount is charged when you book — accommodation, cleaning, any add-ons and applicable tax, each shown separately before you pay. All prices are in Canadian dollars. Payments are processed by Stripe under their terms, and your bank may apply its own conversion or foreign transaction charges, which are between you and your bank.
Cancellations and refunds
Set out in full in our cancellation and refund policy, which forms part of these terms. You are asked to confirm you have read it before you pay.
Who may stay
The person who books must be at least 18 and must be one of the guests. The number of guests must not exceed the number booked. Tell us who is coming — an undisclosed group is grounds for us to end the stay without a refund.
Not an event venue
These are homes for overnight groups, families and shared experiences. Parties, receptions, commercial filming and visitors who are not on the booking are not permitted. We let to wedding groups; we are not a wedding or reception venue.
While you are there
Treat the home as you would your own. Respect the neighbours and the quiet hours, do not smoke indoors, and do not bring pets unless we have agreed to it in writing. You are responsible for everyone in your group.
Damage
You are responsible for damage beyond ordinary wear caused during your stay. We will tell you what has happened and what it costs before anything is charged or held against the card on file. Ordinary wear is our cost, not yours.
Add-ons and experiences
Private-chef dinners, breakfast baskets and similar services are arranged with independent suppliers. We will tell you plainly where something is provided by somebody else. Each has its own cancellation deadline, set out in the cancellation and refund policy.
If we have to cancel
If we cancel your stay, you are refunded everything you paid, however close to arrival it is, and we will help you find somewhere else. Beyond that refund, our liability for a cancellation is limited to the amount you paid for the booking.
Things outside anyone's control
Neither of us is liable for failing to perform because of something genuinely beyond our control — severe weather, a utility failure, a public health order, or similar. Where that stops a stay going ahead, you are refunded for the nights not taken.
What this site says
We describe the homes as accurately as we can and correct anything we find to be wrong. Photographs show the actual properties. Nothing on this site is an offer we are bound to accept until a booking is confirmed.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be waived by agreement.
Talking to us first
If something is wrong, tell us while you are there rather than after you have left. Almost everything is fixable in the moment and almost nothing is fixable in a review.
